How Level of Care in Assisted Living is Determined

The initial evaluation is typically very thorough and includes the person’s medical history, background and personal preferences and is the basis for how level of care is determined. Experts say a care plan evaluation is essential to quality care as it goes through the amount of time spent assisting the person as well as the additional costs associated with the services. The facility should also explain how often they do routine evaluations in order to revise or update service plans.

They emphasize this is the time to bring up any special problems, to ask questions (you may want to prepare them in advance) and discuss resources. Be open about your expectations and the goals you have for your care.
